Altered Self Wellness
Transform into the best possible version of yourself
Did you set out to eat healthier for 2018?
Well now it’s February and you may be thinking that eating healthier is a bit difficult. Today I want to share three tips for bridging the gap between unhealthy eating to healthy eating that are sure to make the transition easier.
- Create awareness around the fact that if your system is saturated with processed foods you will not be able to taste the full flavor of nutritious foods. One way to battle phenomenon is to detox your system for a few weeks of all processed food and then allow yourself to taste fresh produce and delight in all the flavor. This links healthier food to the pleasure/ flavor centers.
- Creating a nurturing with nutrition link in your mind by linking what you are eating to how it affects your body. This is an easy step that is my most favorite tip because it has changed my life. Each week look up a couple of healthy food items you are eating and find out what vitamins or nutrients are within then look up how those specific nutrients affect your body. Before long you will find yourself tasting higher energy, clearer skin, less fatigue and even less pain in your body. Now that stuff taste yummy!
- Slow down and savor your healthy food. Take time to prepare it with love and put it on a beautiful plating. Allow it to delight your senses by thinking about how it smells, what it’s doing for your body and how it tastes. Think about the process of how it was grown, picked and shipped to you. This is a mindfulness tip that allows you to truly appreciate what you are doing in the moment. Oh, and a side note if you get the chance to compare the taste of locally grown produce to grocery store produce do it! I was blown away at the flavor of locally grown tomatoes. I had previously only eaten grocery store tomatoes which lack in all flavor. It was a mind blowing experience.
Thank you for watching.
