Altered Self Wellness – Transform into the best possible version of yourself!
Video three of the Living Mindfully and Creating Lasting Change Series
In video one I spoke about how easy it to focus all our energy on a certain behavior we want to change. We spoke about how focusing some energy into the thoughts and emotions driving the behavior will make implementing new habits easier and require less effort. For some people it is easier to focus on outward manifestations of the change they want to make. We started with an outward exercise to allow for the snowball effect. This will help you gain momentum as you progress forward. With challenge one we separated out behaviors into two columns. Ones you want to keep that move you closer to your goals and ones you want to remove. You will use the result from challenge one when you get to challenge three, so sit these aside for now.
Video two is all about increasing awareness internally. For challenge two you will spend a few minutes separating out your thoughts into two columns. One Colum is for fact and the other column is for opinion. This is something I do regularly for managing my thoughts. It has taken some practice and an ability to sit back and monitor my thoughts without judgment. The without judgment is a huge part of thought management. It is more difficult to increase awareness when I judge or shame my thoughts as wrong, bad or not good. And the truth is most people will not continue forward or address specific things in their mind if it feels ugly. So no judging yourself!
Thoughts that are fact are known as “truth”. Many of these are situations or circumstances in your life. The opinion are the thoughts that you think based off of your personal experiences in life. The more you practice this the easier it will get.
Video three challenge is to break down individual thoughts and visually process how they are creating results in your life. Every feeling you experience is based off of a thought you are thinking. Every feeling you have will drive a behavior or action you take in your life. The actions you take are what will determine your results. If you are not happy with your results in any area of life start by addressing the thought pattern behind it. After you process your thoughts you can compare this challenge to your list of behaviors in challenge one. This will help you define which ones you need to change in order to better achieve your goals.

Stay in touch with me as you process through these challenges. I love hearing your personal experiences with this progression. Next week we will spend some time practicing reframing your thoughts to better suit you goals.
